Construct Destruct, Chris Clark @ StupIDEAsy

Construct Destruct, Chris Clark’s first solo exhibition with StupidEasy Gallery, debuts Saturday, September 24th .
Clark uses a mix of spray paint stenciling, screen printing, collage and painting to create environments that are rich in depth and texture. His work explores the relationship between the natural world and technology. It suggests a certain tension between the two elements, creating an energy that is both kinetic and foreboding.Organic and manufactured forms along with portions of text and images from blueprints & diagrams are fantastically layered to create environments that feel engineered and beautifully toxic. The objects could be anywhere, and the complex physically worked surfaces can become so dense that there is little room for anything else. His blending of organic forms with manufactured surfaces suggests technology run amok and a natural world in accelerated flux. His richly layered and obsessively detailed environments leave you with a feeling of being taken out of time as well as out of place.

Please join us from 7-10pm for the opening reception on Saturday, September 24th. The artist will be in attendance.

There has been a ton of stuff going on around the gallery. There are new projects everyday. The good news is we have had a few visits from our friends DRGN King as well as Chris m. Clark. DRGN King has been working on a video with Dan and Chris has been in to talk about his show in the fall. In all the chaos Dan was able to take a minute and take a portrait of Chris and his sweet nose cast.

The good news is Chris’s show has already gotten some buzz. Street Dept noticed Chris’ tiny installations around fishtown. Here’s the link where they mention his work. ( http://streetsdept.com/2011/08/07/a-little-instillation/ ) These tiny pieces definitely brighten fish town and catch your eye. They seemed excited to see more of what he has to offer and so are we.

So Easy a 3rd Grader could do it. . . .

Dan and Lauren have been creating an interesting video for the Multicultural Alliance Congress who are launching an app to assist people in finding Philadelphia’s multicultural restaurants, shops and events around the city. We were able to construct known land marks out on construction paper. Above you see Lauren working on creating a map of a section of Philadelphia.

A Couple Days @Citizen’s Bank Park

Working at the Phillies Stadium had a lot of great things about it , but one of the coolest things had to be getting so close to the World Series Trophy !! Check Out the Time-Lapse Video that Dan made on the GPTMC facebook page. We were able to help with the installation of Joe Hill’s work as well as see some fans interact with his work. The weather was not perfect but we had a fun time doing it.
